Edible Masterpieces at The Exchange

01This morning we held a fundraising event for The Art Fund at The Exchange Gallery in Penzance. West Cornwall DFAS members and friends turned up bearing the most wonderful and creative works of art. (Click here to see all of our fabulous entries.)

Fortified with coffee and biscotti, we all oohed and aahed over the work on display. What a clever bunch of members we have!

Some of us were also treated to a talk by Angela Kingston, curator of The Exchange’s current exhibition: “3AM: Wonder, Paranoia and the Restless Night”. It might interest you to know that the exhibition includes several pieces by Rachel Kneebone, the porcelain sculptor, who just happens to be the daughter of a couple of our West Cornwall DFAS members. Do take the time to drop in to the gallery and have a look around. It’s well worth it!

Our Edible Masterpiece entries were judged by Georgia Stoneman, artist and co-director of the Stoneman Gallery. The grand prize went to Carrie Baker, whose Terry Frost-inspired cake was nothing short of inspired. Well done, Carrie.

06Following the judging, our own Liz Woods stood in as auctioneer and ably sold off all of the Edible Masterpieces.

Everyone who attended had a great time and, not only that, you’ll be pleased to hear that we raised over £120 for The Art Fund!
